Yes – we are able to recommend products based on your needs and can help make suggestions about adapting sex toys to make them easier to use. Please email info@pleasuregardenshop.co.uk and someone will be in touch.
Although we try are best to make sure we have as broad a range of knowledge as possible – we may not be able to answer every question. If we can’t, we won’t pretend we can and will try to help you find someone else to ask. Also, we are not doctors and are unable to provide medical advice or information. If you have any concerns about the impact of using sex toys or having sex on your health please consult your doctor.
Why is what it’s made of so important?
The sex toy industry is pretty unregulated. This means that some products on the market are actually made of unsafe and even toxic materials. For example toys made of jelly, TPR or PVC, because they are porous, are impossible to fully sanitise and will harbour bacteria and fungus.
At The Pleasure Garden we have carefully selected the items we sell to ensure that they are all body safe and phthalate free. All of our insertable toys are made from non-porous materials such as silicone, metal or ABS plastic. We don’t stock anything that we wouldn’t feel 100% safe using ourselves.

CARE AND CLEANING
How should I store my toys?
You should store your toys somewhere dry and away from any extreme temperatures. It is important that you make sure your toys are clean and dry before you put them away. Unless you are using them very regularly it is also best to take the batteries out of battery operated toys when you store them.
It is a myth that silicone toys will melt if you let them touch. Latex. Jelly, PVC or TPR toys might however as the materials they are made with break down. Silicone toys will however pick up fluff, hair and dust, so we recommend storing them in a satin or cotton bag.
Please email info@pleasuregardenshop.co.uk for instructions on how to return your purchase.
How should I clean my toys?
Most toys can be cleaned with a rinse with warm water and hand soap. This will clean it up and is fine if you are keeping your toy to yourself – but is not enough if you want to share with someone else.
Only non-porous toys such as those made of 100% silicone, ABS plastic, metal, glass or wood can be completely sanitised – killing all the bacteria or fungus on them. Porous toys such as those made from TPR can not be sanitised and therefore we do not recommend sharing these toys.
You can sanitise your toys by:
- Submerging them in boiling water for 3-5 minutes (only suitable if any electrical components can be removed)
- Submerging or wiping down your toy with a solution of 90% water 10% bleach. Rinse with plain water to remove any bleach residue.
